Scooter Mileage

To get the most out of your scooter, you must understand how to match up the scooter mileage of the models you’re interested in with your daily needs. Underestimating this could leave you stranded.

How To Choose The Right Scooter

Over the past few years, many people have been impacted by the fluctuating gas prices. Thankfully, gas prices aren’t quite as bad as they were over a year ago but with summer coming, you can almost guarantee that you will see an increase in prices. To help get through the summer without over paying for gas, you should look into buying a scooter. Scooters are extremely fuel efficient, very easy to ride, and even look great. When looking into buying a scooter there are a few things you should consider, scooter mileage being one of the most important factors.

The first step in finding the right scooter is deciding what size engine you want based on what you will use the scooter for. For instance, the smaller the engine the lower the scooter’s top speed but the higher the scooter mileage. For instance a 50cc engine, which is the smallest available, is only good for a single rider and has a top speed of around 35 miles per hour. However, it can get about 100 miles per gallon. This small engine is only recommended for a single average size rider. If you want a scooter that will allow you to have a passenger, or if you are a larger person, then you will want at least a 125cc motor. A 125cc motor will allow a single rider to go about 65 miles per hour, or two people to go about 45 miles per hour. If you have a commute that is longer than a few miles, then you will want a scooter with a motor of 150-200cc. You can also find scooters with motors larger than 200cc, these will go much faster and will handle most anything but you will start to compromise your fuel efficiency.

The next step in finding the right scooter is choosing which brand of scooter to buy. To help minimize problems with repairs and maintenance, it is recommended to choose a popular name brand like a Honda, Aprilia, Kawasaki or Qlink. Each of these companies make high quality scooters in different motor sizes so you can pick one with the scooter mileage capability that you are looking for.

Lastly, buy a scooter that meets your style and fits your body. A lot of people make the mistake of not paying attention to the seat height of the scooter compared to their own height. If you get a seat that sits too low for your size, it will feel awkward and uncomfortable. On the reverse, if it’s too high, you’ll have problems with your feet not reaching the ground when stopped. That’s why a test drive is very important.

So why spend more than you have to on gas this summer when you can ride in style with a fun, fuel efficient scooter?
